Wijmo UI for the Web
Quick Start
Wijmo User Guide > Widgets > Grid > Quick Start

In this quick start, you'll learn how to add the Grid widget to an HTML project using HTML markup and jQuery script.

  1. To create a new HTML page in your favorite text editor, add the following code and save the document with an .html extension.

    Drop down and copy markup

    Paste in your favorite text editor.
    Copy Code
    <!DOCTYPE HTML>
    <HTML>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </HTML>

  2. Add links to the dependencies to your HTML page within the <head> tags. Find the latest dependencies in the content delivery network (CDN) file at wijmo cdn.

    Drop down and copy references to paste inside the head tags

    References
    Copy Code
    <!--Theme-->
    <link href="http://cdn.wijmo.com/themes/aristo/jquery-wijmo.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

    <!--Wijmo Widgets CSS-->
    <link href="http://cdn.wijmo.com/jquery.wijmo-pro.all.3.20183.140.min.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

    <!--RequireJs-->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://cdn.wijmo.com/external/require.js"></script>
  3. Add the following markup within the <body> tags to create the widget. The <table> element creates the widget, and we call its id attribute in jQuery to initialize it.

    Drop down and copy markup to paste inside the body tags

    Markup
    Copy Code
    <table id="wijgrid">
    </table>
  4. Within the <head> tags, below the references, add the following script to initialize the widget and specify the following options:
    • Sets the allowSorting option to true, allowing users to click a column header to sort the data by that column.
    • Sets the allowPaging option to true, allowing users to click the page numbers at the bottom of the grid to move through the pages of data.
    • Sets the pageSize option to 3, causing a page break after every three records.
    • Sets the data option to specify the content of each row.
    • Sets the columns option to provide the header text for each column.

    Drop down and copy script to paste inside the head tags

    Script
    Copy Code
    <script type="text/javascript">
        requirejs.config({
            baseUrl: "http://cdn.wijmo.com/amd-js/3.20161.90",
                paths: {
                    "jquery": "jquery-1.11.1.min",

                }
        });
    </script>

    <script id="scriptInit" type="text/javascript">
        require(["wijmo.wijgrid"], function () {
        $(document).ready(function () {
            $("#wijgrid").wijgrid({
                cellClicked: function (e, args) {
                    alert(args.cell.value());
                },
                allowSorting: true,
                allowPaging: true,
                pageSize: 3,
                data: [
                    [27, 'Canada', 'Adams, Craig', 'RW'],
                    [43, 'Canada', 'Boucher, Philippe', 'D'],
                    [24, 'Canada', 'Cooke, Matt', 'LW'],
                    [87, 'Canada', 'Crosby, Sidney (C)', 'C'],
                    [1, 'United States', 'Curry, John', 'G'],
                ],
                columns: [
                    {headerText: "Number"},
                    {headerText: "Nationality"},
                    {headerText: "Player"},
                    {headerText: "Position"}
                ]
            });
        });
        });
    </script>
  5. Save your HTML file and open it in a browser. The widget appears like the following live widget. Click the page numbers at the bottom to change pages.
